Northern Trinity/Woodbine
Aquifer GAM, DFC, and MAG information for GMA 8.
To assist in developing the desired future conditions (DFC) for
the Trinityand Woodbine aquifers, GMA 8 requested pumping simulations of the Texas
Water Development Board (TWDB) Groundwater Availability Model (GAM) for the
Northern Trinity/Woodbine aquifer. The GAM simulations provide
the projected effect that various pumping levels will have on an aquifer.
The simulations for the Northern Trinity/Woodbine aquifers used the groundwater
availability figures from the Regional Water Planning Groups (RWPG) for the
unprotected counties (counties without a GCD), except for certain counties that
are affected by the use of groundwater for the production of Barnett
Shale. These counties used more recent figures that are available from a
TWDB report. The 14 counties that have a GCD had the option of using
their own figures or the RWPG data.
The DFCs for the Woodbine Aquifer were adopted by GMA 8 at the December
meeting held on December 17, 2007. The TWDB MAG for the Woodbine Aquifer was finalized November 10, 2008.
The DFCs for the Trinity Aquifer were adopted by GMA 8 at the September
meeting held on September 17, 2008. The TWDB MAG for the Trinity Aquifer was finalized March 31, 2009.
